The Little Prince and Mystique were debuted at the November 2007 Tri State Live
show, both ideas were submitted by Dee's Model Horses and produced and
sold by the Peter Stone Company.
"Little Prince" is owned by Maureen Coffin
Mystique was modeled after a purebred Arabian mare called Trabag. Foaled
in 1946 Trabag was a champion Arabian mare bred and shown in Argentina. Her
pattern is known as manchado or "manchado overo", it has only cropped up in
Argentina in a handful of horses of various breeds, Criollo, Hackney, Arabian
and the Thoroughbred so far. Because it is only found in Argentina and it has
not proven to be passed on, she did not pass her pattern on to any of her foals
with the same being true of other known manchados. The manachado pattern is
believed to be the result of environmental factors rather than genetic ones.
This pattern is NOT related to Appaloosa, sabino or Chubari/tetrarch
spots.
